Gntlman Of The Month: George Clooney

Gntlman Of The Month: George Clooney

Hurrah! We kept our promise and we're back with a Gntlman Of The Month right on schedule. Can you tell we're feeling pretty pleased with ourselves?

So, let's jump right into it.

George Bernard Shaw once said “a gentleman is someone who puts more into the world than he takes out” and for us, this could not be more fitting for our Gntlman Of The Month.

He has officially been named as the highest paid actor ever and is estimated to be worth £800 million. He's also got a talent for making us want to drink Nespresso with Danny DeVito, but that's not why George Clooney is our Gntlman Of The Month.

George Clooney is a household name. Anyone that doesn't know him has most likely been residing under a rather large rock for their entire lives. With a sharp, suave dress sense and looks we're hoping for when we're in our 50's, it's no wonder he's the apple of many a woman’s eye (here's looking at you Grandma). But our admiration for Mr Clooney doesn't come from his acting ability, his high profile friends or phenomenal suiting. It's for his activism.

The Ocean's Eleven actor has always been very politically active and outspoken about his support for causes such as same-sex marriages and gun control in the US and has supported a list of charities longer than all of our arms combined!

Together with a group of fellow actors (Brad Pitt, Matt, Damon and Don Cheadle and Jerry Weintraub) and US Ambassador, David Pressman, Clooney also co-founded the Not On Our Watch Project, an international relief and humanitarian organisation. The organisation was founded in aid of the Darfur conflict and other crimes against humanity.

George, you're a pretty spiffing chap!

As for his recent work, along with his human rights lawyer wife, Amal, George pledged to donate $500,000 to the March for Our Lives demonstration in remembrance of the victims of February's school shooting in Florida and in support of tighter gun control. The pair have also donated to migrant children crossing the border from Mexico.

Now we could go on but we're starting to risk sounding like a section on Mr Clooney's CV.

So you get the idea. For us, someone who uses his high profile influence and money to do some good in the world and show us how we can all do the same is definitely deserving of our Gntlman Of The Month title.

Remember to check back next month to see who deserves to be our August Gntlman Of The Month.
