Giving Back In A Stylish Way.

Giving Back In A Stylish Way.

A gentleman is one who puts more into the world than he takes out”

– George Bernard Shaw

Here at We Are Gntlmen, we've had a pretty exciting start to May. We're underway with our partnership with the London Broncos and our shirts are on tour with folk musician Frank Turner. Not to mention the recent arrival of the sun and over 20 degree heat (because are you even British if you don't mention the weather?!). And we've got loads more exciting things to come. However, I want to take a little step back from it all today and talk about something a little more earnest

Don't worry, I'm not about to get all serious news reporter on you! But as a brand, we pride ourselves on our ethos of expressing the qualities of a true modern day gentleman. Believing in passion, honour, politeness and above all kindness and generosity. This is why we have collaborated with the incredible people at The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity to bring you our brand new 'Humphrey' shirt and to raise money and awareness for this important cause.

The name takes after the hospital's mascot Humphrey Bear, who in turn is named after Humphrey Booth, the founder of the late Booth Hall Hospital which is now part of the RMCH family. We have added the hospital's bear logo on the cuff and inside neck label, alongside We Are Gntlmen's signature penny farthing, all in the hospital's statement lime green colour. And of course, the shirt is still made from premium 100% cotton.
The charity exists to support three key areas that the hospital provides: treatments, research and care. The site is the largest single location children's hospital in the UK, providing a range of care from oncology to burns and treats approximately 250,000 patients a year. Accommodation is also provided within the Ronald McDonald House to families of children visiting the hospital on a more long term basis. Not to mention the fantastic décor in the hospital itself to spark the imaginations of the children (there is a seriously cool space station x-ray!). The charity is also collecting donations for new 3D Pain Distraction Units. 3D televisions that immerse the children into videos and games to help preoccupy them whilst undergoing treatments.

We believe in giving back to our local community, especially a charity as dedicated to the health of children and young people like RMCH. So that's why 100% of the proceeds from every Humphrey shirt sale goes to the charity. Yes you read that right, 100% of the proceeds are donated! Meaning at the end of every month, we combine all the £40 received from the sales of Humphrey and write a cheque which is then handed over to the charity. From the very start of the brand we have wanted to re-invent the idea of the true gentlemen and we believe that a great way to start is by showing kindness and generosity to children and giving them the best out of life. Hoping, in turn, they will carry on these virtues themselves.

The We Are Gntlmen x Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity collab is our brand's first steps into our bigger plan for giving back to our community. With future plans to support young men growing up without a positive male role model in their lives, we aim to eventually expand our visions to one day include our very own We Are Gntlmen Foundation. Until then, however, we strive to do the best we can by supporting these great causes.

Wonderful to hear of your philanthropic aims with the We Are Gntlmen Brand. I hope to join you on a similar path with my brand, also hoping to set up a foundation.

Keep it up. Your work is inspiring and motivating.

I have bought my husband a couple of your shirts and love them. I NEED to buy the Humphrey as I know the shirt will be great but also RMCH did an amazing job with my nephew when he was born there and super poorly. This is amazing -thank you!
